Green Enterprise Ontario (GEO)

Green Enterprise Ontario is Ontario's leading business association working to build a greener, more sustainable economy for the province of Ontario and beyond. GEO's members understand that this can only be achieved by focusing on a triple bottom line: people, profits and the planet. At the same time this approach allows them to:
  • Lower our costs through savings on human, material and energy inputs.
  • Increase revenues by adding new markets and improving margins.
  • Improve our reputation and brand in the marketplace.
  • Enhance the company's image with customers, the community and other key stakeholders.
  • Reduce financial and legal risk by improving regulatory compliance.
  • Attract, retain and motivate the best employees.

Participants in Sustainability Learning Centre courses can gain a 50% discount on GEO membership.  Check out their website to see benefits of membership: www.greenenterprise.net

Network for Business Sustainability (NBS)

The Network for Business Sustainability conducts free, credible research on the issues that matter to sustainability managers.  Each year, its Leadership Council of leading Canadian businesses identifies their top sustainability priorities. To date, these priorities include:

  • Adaptation to Climate Change
  • Engaging the Community
  • Socially Conscious Consumerism
  • Valuing Business Sustainability

NBS' Systematic Reviews summarize what they know about a particular topic based on a thorough evaluation of the existing body of knowledge. Their Research Insights provide highlights of top-notch academic articles on each topic - in a concise, plain-English format designed specifically for managers.

The Network is comprised of over 400 researchers and reaches over 800 practitioners from different sectors in English- and French-speaking Canada and beyond. Its members are interested in using knowledge to unlock a sustainable future. They foster collaboration, build community and build relationships between researchers, managers, policy-makers and students through:

• A people database which includes all the researchers in our Community and their expertise
• Events which bring them together to build relationships and learn
• Leadership Council's Knowledge Priorities that build a common research agenda

NBS Exchanges knowledge through:

• A knowledge database of industry reports and Research Insights provides rigorous knowledge in accessible formats
• Knowledge Projects that reveal what we know and what we don't know based on the best evidence available

NBS spurs innovation through collaboration by:

• Identifying collaborations between researchers and managers
• Recruiting the brightest students in Canada to share their visions for sustainability in different sectors
