WasteHistoryWaste Concepts are a Part of History (GEO 009)

This module introduces employees to the history of waste processes. It was common for people to throw garbage and human waste out of dwellings leading to contaminated water supplies and disease. Through time, and now as companies direct new greener initiatives mandating new ways waste must be processed we explore past practices within an organizational structure. This course discusses how current waste and those charged with coordinating waste management efforts can see the need from a historical perspective.

 In the course you will be able to:
◦Discuss historical events that led to waste management.
◦Describe the evolution of recycling.

TrackingTransportingWasteTracking and Transporting Waste (GEO 010)

This module introduces employees to the importance of Identifying waste in daily business practices. By employees being able to analyze and track their own waste streams, and distinguish categories of waste, companies can possibly establish new revenue streams while becoming more environmentally friendly. Safety, as employees get involved in monitoring and processing waste is an essential component of this course.

In the course you will be able to:
◦Describe methods for tracking waste materials.
◦Explain the responsibilities involved with transporting waste.

SolidWastePrinciplesSolid Waste Principles (GEO 011)

This module introduces employees to the efforts of the Environmental Protection agency or the EPA. We define and identify solid waste. We explain some of the procedures for analysis and explain some laws and recycling statistics. We review the challenges for solid waste disposal and what led to the first federal law on solid waste and early efforts that paved the way for the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, or RCRA.

In the course you will be able to:
◦Describe the collection, handling, and disposal of solid waste.

whatcanberecycledWhat can be Recycled (GEO 012)

This course will address the growing interest in distinguishing what can actually be recycled within an office atmosphere. Employees will be introduced to the three famous R's in waste management that consist of reduce, reuse, and recycling and obtain guidance on how to incorporate buying less and using less. Ignorance on these issues can pose internal problems.
We will help identify some of the types office debris that can be recycled.

In the course you will be able to:
◦Describe commonly recycled waste products.
◦Discuss commercial recycling facilities.
◦Identify environmentally unfriendly recyclable materials.

planformanagingwasteA Plan to Begin Managing Your Waste (GEO 013)

This course will address the importance of the commitment to waste reduction for employee involvement. Management will be exposed to why these decisions begin at the top. We define why, at all levels, the management team and employees must fully support waste reduction efforts. This module directs employees from the beginning, in the planning stages including how to form a committee with representatives from each work area.

In the course you will be able to:
◦Describe organizing a plan to manage waste.
◦Explain the procedure for managing facility waste.

contractualguidelinesContractual Guidelines are a Must (GEO 14)

This course will address the need to establish reporting procedures in dealing with recycling vendors, preparing contracts and bills of lading that will help track collection and transporting of waste an organization creates. This training for employees is essential so they are aware that waste management efforts need to be tracked as will recycling plans and goals to make sure they conform to compliance guidelines should also be documented, tracked, and saved.

In the course you will be able to:
◦Describe organizing a plan to manage waste.
◦Explain the procedure for managing facility waste.

Course Description These modules will cover the introduction to developing a waste plan in a business environment and its many benefits. The directives in this course will explain how a company's sustainability efforts should be tracked and analyzed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of individual components of the overall plan. Discussion topics will be recycling programs, waste programs, and other aspects of waste management.
Who Should Attend Anyone wanting gain a basic understanding of waste management.
