Course Description Are you ready for GHG reporting? Greenhouse Gas reporting is underway for large emitters. Facilities who exceed the new 50kt CO2 equivalent GHG emission threshold must report their 2009 GHG emissions on or before June 1, 2010. In addition in September 2009 the EPA issued its final rule on mandatory reporting of GHGs for emitters of over 25K tons a year starting in 2011 for the year 2010. Some experts believe that the U.S. may start pressuring Canada to have better GHG reporting requirements. Are you ready? Do you know your carbon footprint? In this one day program we will help you "kick start" your GHG inventory. By the end of this course you will be able to develop your company's GHG management plan and understand how to quantify, report and verify your total GHG emissions.
Learning Objectives Using current case studies, best practice examples and hands-on activities you will:
  • Understand the effects of GHG's on the planet and international efforts to reduce GHG's.
  • Make the business case for GHG measurement, management and reporting.
  • Appraise the principles of ISO 14064 and this standard's use in GHG measurement, management, reporting and validation.
  • Apply direct GHG emission accounting to your operations and do GHG calculations for your electricity bill.
  • Comprehend indirect GHG emission accounting and identify the indirect GHG emissions in your operation.
  • Discuss GHG quantification methodologies and their implications to your reporting and verification system.
  • List options for GHG reduction including mitigation and offset strategies.
  • Identify the implications of the Carbon Disclosure Project to your operation.
  • Identify steps to ISO 14064 GHG verification and validation processes.
  • Create a plan of action for GHG Management for your enterprise.
