Course Description Customers and your employees now expect your company to make significant efforts to reduce your environmental impact and become more sustainable and meet your legal obligations. Reducing waste can save money by reducing resource and logistics costs. Diverting wastes takes valuable resources out of the landfill into recycling and reuse streams, but this is not enough. The course will help you develop an understanding of your waste streams, opportunities for diversion and reduction, how to meet your legal requirements and how to develop an effective program that increases your profitability and puts you on the road to sustainability.
Learning Objectives Using current case studies, best practice examples and hands-on activities you will:
  1. Evaluate conventional waste management practices in the context of sustainability.
  2. Understand how to identify and assess your non hazardous waste streams.
  3. Identify your legal requirements for managing wastes.
  4. Understand how to design and carry out a waste audit at your facility.
  5. Prepare an effective waste reduction work plan.
  6. Make a solid business case for waste reduction and waste diversion strategies.
  7. Establish the right metrics for measuring progress against your waste reduction, reuse and recycling goals.
  8. Identify the 10 most impactful waste reduction and diversion opportunities in your operation.
